Graduates of Foreign Institutions of Higher Learning/International Students
Candidates who have earned degrees or completed coursework from foreign institutions of higher learning are required to have their transcripts evaluated by a third-party organization, such as World Education Service, approved by the Department of Education. The list of approved evaluators may be accessed at the following link: http://doe.virginia.gov/teaching/licensure/graduates_foreign_institutions.pdf.
The individual must obtain an evaluation from one of the agencies listed on the Department of Education website of his/her credentials (including a listing of the courses completed and the semester-hour equivalent for each course) and a statement regarding the equivalency of the program of study to the four-year baccalaureate degree (or post -baccalaureate degree, if applicable) from a regionally accredited college or university. In lieu of an official transcript from the foreign institution, the Department of Education will accept the credential evaluation of the degree(s) and course work equivalencies.
Please contact our office (email@example.com) to learn more about the requirements to complete this program. For academic degrees completed outside the U.S., the Virginia Department of Education requires the transcript to be evaluated by one of the agencies listed on this page: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/teaching/licensure/graduates_foreign_institutions.pdf.
Applicants with English as a second language will be required to complete an English language proficiency exam and meet the benchmark score.
