Dr. Kristen Brown
Dr. Kristen Moore Brown has over a decade of experience in educational equity serving Black and Brown students. She served as a DC Public Schools (DCPS) teacher for six years teaching World History and after leaving the classroom, Kristen worked for the Department of Education during the Obama Administration, and served as a District Leadership Program Fellow in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education where she worked on truancy policies in DC schools. For three years, Kristen was deeply committed to equity work on the Student Empowerment and Equity Programs (SEEP) team at DCPS leading and facilitating leadership programs empowering young women of color in the District. Currently, she is the Mentor and Equity Program Specialist at Richmond Public Schools where she leads the Brothers United Mentoring Program and is building out strategies for equity and implicit bias training for the Office of Engagement. She has a B.A. and M.A. from Howard University and holds a Doctorate in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
